Carnauba wax is the natural waxy cuticle that sits on the surface of the Carnauba palm leaf. Its extraction method is chemical-free. It is widely used in cosmetic formulations for its nice, glossy finish, hence its nickname, “queen of the waxes”. Candelilla wax is used in our Mango Lotion. The Candelilla plant grows in the Chihuahua Desert, Mexico. Its leaves are covered in a scale-like waxy coating, which yields a hard and superior quality wax. The wax serves to retain moisture in skin as it does for this desert plant. Orange wax is a very thick wax that is pressed out of the orange peel, but is otherwise unprocessed and any small chunks of peel are natural inclusions. It is reputed to possess anti-microbial properties and provides stability in lotions. It is orange in colour and has a characteristic deep, just-peeled uplifting orange aroma.

Mango

This member of the cashew nut family provides effective skin care properties because of its high Vitamin A, C and beta carotene content. It protects against UV radiation and is believed to be useful in treating stretch marks, scars, and wounds, as well as smoothing wrinkles. Mango butter is useful for mature skin (age 30 and up) as it: • prevents skin from drying • prevents wrinkle formation • prevents degeneration of skin cells • restores flexibility of skin Strawberry powder fruit extract is used to reduce the appearance of pores and to provide toning and soothing properties. It is rich in polyphenols and Vitamin C. We used Candelilla wax (a dessert plant wax) which helps retain moisture. We made this lotion suitable for extra dry skin by using avocado oil. Essential oil of pink grapefruit provides a delicate scent suitable for this light pink lotion.

Cypress

This lotion emits masculine aromatic notes attributable to the essential oil of cypress. Cypress has been prized for balancing oily skin and having astringent properties. It also curbs excessive perspiration. It has also been reputed to be nervesoothing and relaxing. Its spicy, herbaceous, slightly woody evergreen scent makes for a great lotion. Olive butter’s emollient, antioxidant and moisturizing properties complement the unrefined, un-deodorized hemp seed oil and white thyme Hydrosol. Candelilla wax is used in this lotion. When you think of meadows, you think of grasses, clusters of flowers, and an exotic citrus grove. Indeed our essential oil collection in this lotion is derived from grasses such as Palmarosa and Lemongrass, flowers such as African Helichrysum and Chamomile, and the exotic citrus peel of the Bergamot orange. Sensuously refreshing, this lotion contains Carnauba wax (a palm tree vegetable wax). African Helichrysum essential oil has skin regeneration properties and Palmarosa is antibacterial, antiviral and is often used to treat acne. This lotion is a conversation piece. Made from the same grapes as are used in the production of Cognac, the essential oil has a rich wine barrel aroma that complements the scent of unprocessed orange wax, Neroli Hydrosol, and essential oil of Petitgrain. The banana fruit powder extract used is rich in potassium and Vitamin A and is, therefore, wonderful for dry skin while the Petitgrain essential oil (created from the leaves and twigs of the bitter orange tree) works well for oily skin. Simple, refreshing and orange, right down to the wax. This lotion moisturizes and softens and provides nurturing skin care properties. The featured ingredient is orange wax, derived from the peel of oranges, with an aroma of a freshly peeled orange. We added olive butter for its emollient, antioxidant and moisturizing properties and brown seaweed extract for its rich source of trace elements and minerals. Essential oil of the bergamot orange adds to the utterly intoxicating scent. Simple, orange and effective.
